The capital of Tajikistan, Dushanbe, is hosting a number of high-level international events, including the Central Asia-Russia Summit and the CIS Heads of State Council.

October 9: Second Central Asia-Russia Summit

The second day will be key for regional strategy. The presidents of Tajikistan, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Turkmenistan, Uzbekistan, and Russia will hold the second Central Asia-Russia Summit.

The heads of state will discuss a wide range of issues, focusing on developing multifaceted cooperation and coordination in the fight against terrorism, extremism, drug trafficking, and other transnational challenges. Following the summit, it is planned to adopt a Final Communique and a Joint Action Plan.

A parallel meeting of the CIS Council of Foreign Ministers (CFM) will be held in Dushanbe, where the heads of the foreign affairs agencies will discuss the current agenda and preparations for the upcoming CIS Leaders' Summit.

October 10: CIS Heads of State Council

The CIS Heads of State Summit will be held at the Palace of the Nation, chaired by Tajikistan President Emomali Rahmon.

Attendance is expected from Azerbaijani President Ilham Aliyev, Armenian Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan, Belarusian President Alexander Lukashenko, Kazakh President Kassym-Jomart Tokayev, Kyrgyz President Sadyr Japarov, Russian President Vladimir Putin, Turkmen President Serdar Berdimuhamedov, and Uzbek President Shavkat Mirziyoyev.

CIS leaders will focus on deepening political dialogue, strengthening trade and economic ties, and expanding cooperation in the humanitarian and cultural spheres. Following the meeting, a number of documents aimed at further strengthening multilateral cooperation will be signed, according to the Foreign Ministry of Tajikistan.

The establishment of a new "CIS Plus" format will be discussed during the CIS summit. The format envisages the participation of third countries in organizing events under the auspices of the CIS, RIA Novosti reports.

October 11: Second Expert Forum "Russia – Central Asia"

The second expert forum "Russia – Central Asia: A Joint Development Agenda" will bring together heads and representatives of think tanks, research institutes, and relevant ministries from Central Asian countries and the Russian Federation, diplomats, and experts. Participants will discuss a wide range of issues, including climate change and its impact on the region's sustainable development, energy and food security, developing transport and logistics links, and strengthening trade and economic partnerships. Particular attention will be paid to adapting the region's economies to global instability, transforming global markets, and developing new formats of interaction within the framework of integration initiatives.
