On the occasion of the 34th anniversary of Turkmenistan's independence, 142 foreign citizens and stateless persons were granted residence permits in the country. The corresponding decree was signed by President Serdar Berdimuhamedov on Thursday, September 25.

As Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs Rashid Meredov reported at a Cabinet meeting, citizens of seven countries and representatives of 15 nationalities received permits. He also noted that, as part of the state's humane policy, residence permits had already been granted to more than 5,000 foreign citizens.

The head of state emphasized that Turkmenistan will continue its effective work to ensure human rights and freedoms and instructed the relevant agencies to ensure the implementation of the signed document.
