AVAZA, September 18 | ORIENT. UN Under-Secretary-General Rabab Fatima delivered a video message to participants of the Investment Forum in Avaza. She praised Turkmenistan's leadership in advancing the interests of landlocked developing countries (LLDCs) and presented new UN initiatives aimed at attracting investment.

Recognition of Leadership and a Successful Conference

Rabab Fatima expressed deep gratitude to the Government of Turkmenistan for hosting the forum. She noted that the event was a logical continuation of the Third UN Conference on LLDCs, which was held to great acclaim in Avaza last month.

According to her, this conference was a convincing demonstration of Turkmenistan's professionalism and commitment to development issues. She emphasized that Turkmenistan has demonstrated its ability to convene and unite partners to address complex issues and promote inclusive multilateral cooperation.

Investment Potential and New Initiatives

In her speech, Rabab Fatima emphasized the large-scale investment opportunities in the LDCCs. She noted that these countries, with their young demographics and abundant renewable resources, have the potential to become hubs for sustainable development and innovation.

To harness this potential, the Office of the UN Under-Secretary-General has launched several initiatives:

•Establishment of the Infrastructure Investment Finance Facility. Its goal is to mobilize approximately US$510 billion for infrastructure modernization in the LDCCs.

• Launch of the Global Business Network. This initiative aims to directly connect the LDCCs with global investors, stimulating economic growth and job creation.

• Development of a digital investment guide. This special edition, “Vision for the Future,” will showcase the potential of each LDCM country and identify priority sectors for cooperation.

In conclusion, she emphasized that partnerships formed at forums such as TIF 2025 are crucial for transforming LDMCs into dynamic and self-sufficient economies. She expressed hope for close collaboration and stated that solidarity and determination will help unlock the full potential of these countries.
