On September 2, a meeting took place at the Central Veterinary Laboratory in Ashgabat between representatives of the State Veterinary Service of Turkmenistan and Viktoras Zabolotnos, a consultant for the United Nations Economic Commission for Europe (UNECE). Arslan Soltanmyradov, head of the International and Scientific Relations Department, represented the Turkmen side in the negotiations.

During the meeting, the parties discussed the details of the national assessment of regulatory and procedural trade barriers, which is being conducted at the request of the Government of Turkmenistan. This study aims to help implement state programs for sustainable development, digitalization, and increasing the country's competitiveness in the international market.

The parties paid special attention to simplifying trade procedures and improving the national quality infrastructure, including standardization and accreditation. The assessment results are expected to be presented in the fourth quarter of 2025 and will help improve the business environment, attract investment, and diversify Turkmenistan's economy.
