The volume of cargo transported via the Trans-Caspian International Transport Route has increased sixfold over the past five years—from 800,000 tons in 2020 to 4.5 million tons in 2024. This was reported by Deputy Prime Minister Kanat Bozumbaev during the international forum Astana Finance Day – 2025.

According to him, the route plays a strategic role both for Kazakhstan and for the entire region. In the future, transport volume is planned to increase to 10 million tons per year. “This result clearly demonstrates competitiveness,” emphasized the Deputy Prime Minister.

Bozumbaev also noted that in July of last year, the National Infrastructure Plan until 2029 was approved, aimed at developing life-support systems, meeting the needs of the population, and ensuring economic growth.

Additionally, in December 2024, the national program Modernization of the Energy and Utilities Sectors was adopted. It provides for attracting about 6.8 trillion tenge to upgrade 86,000 km of engineering networks and to introduce at least 26 GW of new capacity by 2035 through renewable sources, gas generation, hydropower, and carbon-based energy.
