Central Asian foreign ministers discussed regional cooperation in Kyrgyzstan


Today, consultative meeting of the foreign ministers of the Central Asian countries was held in Cholpon-Ata, Kyrgyzstan. The gathering considered the top-urgency regional issues and exchanged visions on the further establishment of mechanisms for intra-regional cooperation in Central Asia. Also, the ministers discussed the interaction on the platform international organizations and international policy issues. Uzbek foreign minister Abdulaziz Kamilov invited his counterparts to participate in the Regional Economic Forum of Central Asian countries, which is scheduled for October this year. The meeting was wrapped up with the signing of the Joint Statement. The document highlights the importance of a consultative meeting of the heads of state of Central Asia, to be held in Tashkent in March 2019. Security, activation of trade and economic relations, expansion of the transit and transport potential of Central Asia are identified in the Statement as key areas for the future agenda of pentalateral cooperation. The meeting of the foreign ministers in Cholpon-Ata was part of the efforts of all states to further internal integration of the region, based on the traditions of friendship, good-neighborliness, mutual understanding and trust.
