Media: Formula 1 Azerbaijan Grand Prix will be held without spectators
The Formula 1 Azerbaijan Grand Prix 2021 will be held under new conditions, without spectators, TASS reports with reference to the auto racing Organizing Committee. According to the organizers, all preparatory work will be completed in May. The race will take place on June 6 along the city streets in Baku. The organizers note that if Azerbaijan refused to hold the race in 2021, it would have to pay a fine. The Azerbaijan Grand Prix 2020 was canceled due to the COVID-19 coronavirus pandemic. The Formula 1 auto racing has been held in Baku since 2016. Since 2017, the race is officially called Azerbaijan Grand Prix. The round in Azerbaijan in 2019 was attended by about 85 thousand spectators. In the summer, Baku will also host three matches of a group round and one of the quarterfinals of the European Football Championship to be held from June 11 to July 11, 2021. The Union of European Football Associations will decide on the format of spectator attendance on April 7.
