Recently, a painting by Van Gogh, which almost no one has seen, was first exhibited in Paris. All this time, the painting was kept in private collections and remained unknown to the general public. The painting itself, entitled A Street Scene in Montmartre, was created in 1887 and has been owned by one family ever since. The painting is now put up for sale and will be shown at Sotheby’s in Paris, Amsterdam and Hong Kong. The auction will take place on March 25. Art of a different kind appeared on Reading Prison wall in England. An unknown person painted graffiti: a prisoner in a striped robe descends down a rope twisted from sheets, to which a typewriter is tied. It is believed that this is writer Oscar Wilde, who himself was in this prison. According to art critics, the anonymous artist hints at the use of the old prison as a new cultural and art center. The prison has been closed for 7 years already, and in 2019 the authorities put it up for sale. Using a graffiti that draws the public attention and promises to be the centerpiece of the exhibition, this turn of events could be quite real.
