Microsoft is bringing Android apps back to Windows 11
Despite the closure of the Windows Subsystem for Android (WSA) project in March 2025, Microsoft is not abandoning the idea of integrating Android applications into Windows 11. According to The Verge, Microsoft is testing a new feature that will allow users to continue working with Android apps on their computer, picking up where they left off on their smartphone.
How It Works
The new option is similar to Apple's Handoff technology. Currently, it is only available to participants in the Windows Insider program and supports only the Spotify app. To use it, you need to connect your Android smartphone to your PC wirelessly. When you start playing music on your phone, a notification "Continue on this PC" appears on the computer. Clicking it automatically opens Spotify on the PC. If the application is not installed, the system will prompt you to install it.
This technology was first demonstrated at the Microsoft Build 2025 conference. It is not yet known when it will be available to all users.
