Turkmenistan is expanding its transport and communications capabilities
At a meeting of the Turkmen government on Friday, August 29, Deputy Chairman of the Cabinet of Ministers Mammetkhan Chakyev presented a report on the work of the transport and communications complex for the first eight months of 2025. The data show positive dynamics in all key sectors, which confirms the country's status as an important transit hub.
Key indicators
Overall growth in services: The complex as a whole exceeded the plan, showing growth at the level of 13.6%.
Increase in transportation volumes:
◦ Freight transportation increased by 1.5%
◦ Passenger transportation — by 3.6%.
Growth leaders
The highest rates were demonstrated by services working in the aviation and communications sectors.

◦ Turkmenistan Airlines: +14.4%
◦ Automobile transport: +11.9%
◦ Sea and river transport: +7.3%
◦ Railways: +5%
After hearing the report, President Serdar Berdimuhamedov emphasized the importance of further improving the work of the transport and communications sector. He instructed the Deputy Prime Minister to take measures to increase the volume of freight and passenger traffic, as well as to create favorable conditions for the development of international transit corridors.
