Gas volume delivered via Turkmenistan-China Gas Pipeline increased by 18%

In the first half of 2018, 16 million 356 thousand cubic meters of natural gas was delivered via the Turkmenistan-Uzbekistan-Kazakhstan-China gas pipeline, which is 18.75 percent higher than the same period last year, China Radio International informs referring to the customs administration of Khorgoss (Xinjiang-Uygur Autonomous Region). The Central Asia-China gas pipeline is an important energy corridor for the Celestial Empire. The pipeline with a total length of 1,833 kilometers provides natural gas for more than 400 million inhabitants along the pipeline route, and the share of Central Asian gas in the country’s total consumption is at least 15 percent. Experts believe that in the future the significance of the Turkmenistan-China gas pipeline will increase, as high rates of development of the Chinese economy will require an increase in energy supplies. As of today, Turkmenistan is the largest gas supplier to the energy market of the China. Pipeline gas is more preferable to consumers than liquefied gas, since it costs much less. Earlier, He Lifeng, head of China's National Development and Reform Commission, told to journalists, tha,t only in 2017, 237 billion cubic meters of natural gas was delivered to China’s citizens, which is 14 percent more than in 2016.
