The first-ever World Humanoid Robot Games have concluded in Beijing. The games began on August 15 and were held at the National Speed Skating Oval, a venue known from the 2022 Olympic Games. The event brought together over 280 teams from 15 countries, including leading Chinese companies, university researchers, and enthusiasts from around the world.

The program featured 487 competitions across 26 categories. Robots competed in both traditional sports like running, boxing, and tennis, as well as in solving practical tasks such as cleaning hotel rooms, sorting materials, and performing warehouse operations. A unique aspect of the competition was that it included both fully autonomous robots with visual recognition algorithms and models with remote control via a 5G-A network. The main goal of the games was to evaluate the practical utility of humanoids in real-life applications.

The staging of such events in China highlights the growing global interest in robotics. This trend is confirmed by other recent developments: the first league for humanoid robot fighting was created in the U.S., and a soccer match was held in China where robots were entirely controlled by artificial intelligence.
