On the sidelines of the Third UN Conference on Landlocked Developing Countries (LLDC), Foreign Minister of Turkmenistan Rashid Meredov held a new series of bilateral meetings with heads of foreign ministries and high-ranking representatives from various countries. These talks emphasized that the Conference has become not only a platform for discussing LLDC issues, but also an effective tool for deepening ties.

During the talks between Rashid Meredov and US Deputy Assistant Secretary of State for South and Central Asian Affairs John Mark Pommersheim, the parties discussed key areas of cooperation in the political, diplomatic, trade, economic, cultural and humanitarian spheres. The American side expressed gratitude for hosting the Conference, and the diplomats confirmed their mutual interest in regular political consultations.

Interaction with African countries has become one of the key areas of diplomatic activity.

Foreign Minister of Lesotho Lejone Mpotjoane discussed with the head of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Turkmenistan the possibility of intensifying cooperation and expressed interest in establishing diplomatic relations. The parties noted the potential in the trade and economic sphere, including agriculture and hydropower.

At the meeting of Rashid Meredov with Minister of Transport and Logistics of Ethiopia Alemu Sime Feisa, the prospects for expanding trade and economic cooperation were discussed. The Ethiopian side highly appreciated the high organizational level of the conference, and also noted the importance of cooperation within the framework of international organizations and the African Union.

At the meeting between Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs of Turkmenistan Akhmet Gurbanov and EU Special Representative for Central Asia Eduards Stiprais, a wide range of issues were discussed, including the development of energy and transport corridors, as well as digitalization within the framework of the EU Global Gateway strategy. Fruitful contacts at the highest level and the successful work of cooperation mechanisms, such as the Joint Committee "Turkmenistan - EU", were noted.

During the meeting, State Secretary of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Portugal Ana Isabel Xavier expressed gratitude for the hospitality and invited the Turkmen side to take part in the Web Summit 2025 Conference. During the meeting, opportunities for cooperation in the field of oceanography and digitalization were discussed.

Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Kingdom of Bhutan, Dina Nat Dungyel, discussed with the Turkmen side the possibilities of establishing diplomatic relations and strengthening partnership. The Minister of Foreign Affairs of Turkmenistan, in turn, outlined the key vectors of the country's foreign policy based on the principles of preventive diplomacy and positive neutrality.

The round of new meetings in Avaza demonstrated the active and multi-vector foreign policy of Turkmenistan. The LLDC Conference has become not only a global forum, but also an effective tool for establishing direct contacts, discussing specific projects and strengthening interstate ties in key areas: from the economy and transport to digitalization and energy.
