Trilateral Meeting Turkmenistan – Uzbekistan – Azerbaijan Confirms New Format
On the sidelines of the Third UN Conference on Landlocked Developing Countries, held in Avaza, on August 5, a trilateral meeting was held between National Leader of the Turkmen People, Chairman of the Khalk Maslakhaty Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov, President of Uzbekistan Shavkat Mirziyoyev and Prime Minister of Azerbaijan Ali Asadov.
The issues of expanding mutually beneficial regional cooperation and promoting joint projects were discussed. The possibilities of cooperation, primarily in the fields of energy, transport and logistics, industry and agriculture were noted. An agreement was reached to continue contacts in this format to develop promising projects for practical cooperation.
Chairman of the Khalk Maslakhaty of Turkmenistan Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov and President of Uzbekistan Shavkat Mirziyoyev emphasized the special place of Azerbaijan in the family of Central Asian countries and in the Advisory Council of Heads of State.
Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov noted that the format of cooperation between the Central Asian countries and Azerbaijan already actually exists, this cooperation has become a requirement of the time, and it must be turned into a permanent practice.
He emphasized that President Ilham Aliyev considers cooperation in the Azerbaijan-Turkmenistan-Uzbekistan format important, and assessed this meeting as laying the foundation for such a new format.
The meeting discussed the development of humanitarian and cultural ties, as well as the agenda of economic cooperation.
The parties expressed mutual interest in further expanding strategic cooperation in the most pressing areas, such as transport, logistics and the energy sector.
Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov reported that during his recent visit to Azerbaijan, an agreement was reached with President Ilham Aliyev on the construction of a mosque in the Fizuli region, as well as on the twinning of the cities of Fizuli and Arkadag, the website of the Cabinet of Ministers of the Republic of Azerbaijan reports.
