António Guterres Expressed Gratitude to Turkmenistan for Hosting the UN Forum
United Nations Secretary-General António Guterres arrived in Turkmenistan on Sunday, August 3, to participate in the Third UN Conference on Landlocked Developing States, which is being held on the Caspian coast.
The distinguished guest was warmly welcomed at the international airport of Turkmenbashi. Chairman of the Khalk Maslakhaty of Turkmenistan Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov, welcoming the UN Secretary-General, noted that he was glad to see him on Turkmen soil.
The National Leader of the Turkmen people noted that the unanimous adoption of the resolution on the modalities of holding the Third UN Conference on Landlocked Developing States at the 63rd plenary meeting of the 79th session of the UN General Assembly was a decision demonstrating the authority of independent, permanently neutral Turkmenistan in the international arena.
UN Secretary-General Antonio Guterres noted that it was a great honor for him to hold an international forum in Turkmenistan that is of great importance for all of humanity. He also expressed gratitude to the Chairman of the Khalk Maslakhaty and the President of Turkmenistan for the opportunity to hold the forum and the support provided by the Turkmen state.
The international forum, held on the coast of the Caspian Sea, will discuss issues important for the global economy and identify ways to successfully implement the tasks existing in this area.
