Figure 02 humanoid robot learns to load laundry
The Californian company Figure has demonstrated the capabilities of its Figure 02 humanoid robot using a household chore as an example. In a short video, the robot autonomously loaded dirty laundry into a washing machine, which was a clear demonstration of its ability to learn complex, multi-step tasks.
Each of the robot's actions is controlled by its own artificial intelligence model, Helix. This allows the Figure 02 to manipulate delicate and complex objects like clothing, marking a significant step in the development of robotics.
Despite this domestic demonstration, the company Figure is currently focusing on industrial applications. The Figure 02 robot is undergoing tests at a BMW automobile factory. However, the completed task clearly indicates the company's plans to develop robots for household use.
Besides Figure, other companies also see the potential for humanoid robots in the home. For example, the company Haier has announced its own cleaning robot, HIVA Haiwa, which can cook, tidy up, and iron clothes. Its dimensions are comparable to a human's: 165 cm tall and weighing 70 kg.
