Nvidia has announced that it will cease releasing new Game Ready drivers for graphics cards based on the Maxwell, Pascal, and Volta architectures. Following the final driver release in October 2025, these products will receive only quarterly security updates for three years, until October 2028.

This decision primarily affects the GeForce GTX 900 (Maxwell) and GeForce GTX 10 (Pascal) series graphics cards. While 900-series cards are now rare in gaming systems, models like the GTX 1070, GTX 1080, and GTX 1080 Ti from the 10-series are still widely used by gamers. The desktop graphics card based on the Volta architecture, the semi-professional Titan V, is also included in this list.

For users, this means that while their older graphics cards will not stop working, they will no longer receive optimizations for new games. Specifically, they will be unable to utilize modern technologies such as hardware-accelerated ray tracing (RT) and DLSS (AI-based upscaling), which have become standard features in many AAA games. These functions are only available on newer Turing and later GPU architectures.

Nvidia also stated that it will release drivers for Windows 10 until October 2026. This extends support for one year after Microsoft officially ends support for the operating system on October 14, 2025. As Windows 10 still holds a significant market share, this change will affect a vast number of users.
