The Tashkent Park to be open in Ashgabat

President of Turkmenistan Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov and the Minister of Foreign Affairs of Uzbekistan Abdulaziz Kamilov have discussed an extensive agenda of bilateral cooperation and issues of regional economic integration during a personal meeting held today. The humanitarian sphere was discussed also. Speaking about the development of strong good-neighborly relations, Berdimuhamedov said that a park titled “Tashkent” would be built in Ashgabat. It will become a continuation of a kind of dialogue between the two capitals: in 2018, with the participation of Presidents Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov and Shavkat Mirziyoyev, the Ashgabat Park was solemnly opened in Tashkent. There also also a street named after the Turkmen poet Mahtumkuli and his bas-relief. In turn, in Ashgabat, there are a street named after Alisher Navoi and a monument to him. Berdimuhamedov also said that the Dashoguz province is a home for a large Uzbek diaspora, who contributes much to the development of Turkmenistan. The head of Turkmenistan and the head of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Uzbekistan spoke about the relevance of continuing to hold creative and scientific meetings, Days of Culture, exhibitions and concerts, as well as celebrations in honor of outstanding personalities of both countries. Both states emphasized the importance of strengthening cooperation to solve the Aral Sea issue, the careful use of water resources and assistance to Afghanistan. In addition, during the meeting, increase in trade turnover between Turkmenistan and the Republic of Uzbekistan by 8.6 percent in last year was noted. Abdulaziz Kamilov praised the achievements of Turkmenistan in economy in 2020, which the country was able to reach despite the global economic recession due to the coronavirus pandemic.
