President of Turkmenistan and the newly appointed Ambassador of Pakistan discus the TAPI gas pipeline implementation


The construction of the transnational gas pipeline Turkmenistan-Afghanistan-Pakistan-India (TAPI) became one of the topics of the meeting of President Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov with the newly appointed Ambassador of Pakistan Irfan Ahmed. The diplomat underlined the interest of Pakistan in the early implementation of the project, as well as the construction of the power lines and fiber-optic communication along the route Turkmenistan-Afghanistan-Pakistan, which will contribute to the more active economic integration of the participating countries. Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov emphasized that the TAPI gas pipeline, which will provide long-term supplies of hydrocarbons to Southeast Asia, will give a powerful impetus to the economies of the entire region, contributing to the social well-being of peoples and consolidation of peace. In the framework of the meeting, the Ambassador presented his credentials to the head of state and conveyed greetings from President of Pakistan Arif Alvi, who expressed his readiness to intensify the dialogue. Pakistan supports the international initiatives put forward by the head of Turkmenistan on the creation of transcontinental energy and transit corridors, the Ambassador said during discussion of the issues related to cooperation and development of trade and economic ties.
