WHO experts have approved for emergency use of vaccine AstraZeneca/Oxford

WHO experts have approved for emergency application of two variants of vaccine AstraZeneca/Oxford produced by South Korea and India. Now many countries can receive this preparation within the limits of initiative COVAX, informs the press service of United Nations.
«Countries with no access to vaccines to date will finally be able to start vaccinating their health workers and populations at risk, contributing to the COVAX Facility’s goal of equitable vaccine distribution,” said Dr Mariângela Simão, WHO Assistant-Director General for Access to Medicines and Health Products.
COVAX is a unique initiative on the centralized purchase and distribution of vaccines from COVID-19. In its frameworks of the government and manufacturers co-operate with a view of maintenance with inoculations both the rich countries, and the countries with low level of income.
WHO experts have analysed quality, safety and efficiency of preparation AstraZeneca/Oxford and recommended it for vaccination of all groups of population over 18. Experts have published intermediate recommendations last week.
They, in particular, have noticed that the countries in which the South Africa coronavirus variant of COVID have been registered, do not have reasons to refuse vaccine AstraZeneca/Oxford as the given preparation can protect the population from heavy course of illness.
Let's remind that earlier there were messages on low efficiency of vaccine AstraZeneca/Oxford against the South African variant of the virus, and the authorities of the Republic of South Africa have decided to suspend vaccination by this preparation.
As an overall efficiency of vaccine AstraZeneca/Oxford is estimated as 63 %. Experts also remind that preparation AstraZeneca/Oxford can be stored in usual refrigerators that essentially facilitate its transportation.
