Apple is reportedly developing a foldable iPhone with a price tag ranging from $1,800 to $2,000, as reported by Tengrinews.kz, citing analysts from the investment bank UBS.

This would make it the most expensive iPhone in the company's history, exceedingly even the starting price of the MacBook Pro, which is $1,599.

Insights into the New Device

According to UBS, the foldable iPhone will be priced higher than current top-tier models, such as the iPhone 15 Pro Max, which starts at $1,199. This strategic pricing positions Apple to compete within the same price bracket as Samsung's foldable flagships, with the Galaxy Z Fold 7 retailing for $1,999 in the U.S.

Insiders have also provided information regarding the potential thickness of the device. According to the Chinese Weibo account Instant Digital (1.4 million followers), the foldable iPhone will have a thickness of at least 4.8 millimeters when unfolded. In comparison, the Galaxy Z Fold 7 measures 4.2 millimeters.

Earlier, analyst Ming-Chi Kuo suggested that the unfolded iPhone could be as thin as 4.5 millimeters; however, recent data indicates Apple may not achieve this target.

Anticipated Release

Kuo's projections indicate that mass production is slated to commence in the second half of 2026, suggesting a potential device release in the same year.

Expected Specifications of the Foldable iPhone:

7.8-inch internal display with no visible crease

5.5-inch external display

Dual rear cameras

Single front-facing camera

Power button with Touch ID (Face ID will not be included)

Apple's entry into the foldable device market is considerably delayed, given that Samsung has been releasing such models since 2019. However, the Cupertino-based company is known for its philosophy of "not rushing but doing better." Whether this approach will prove successful remains to be seen in 2026.
