Berdimuhamedov summed up the past year: from the speech of the president
President Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov at the enlarged meeting of the Cabinet of Ministers of Turkmenistan which took place on Friday, February 12, briefly summed up the past year. Though for all of us the past year appeared heavy, difficult, we, despite crisis in the world economy, could achieve successes, fulfil almost all plans, the head of the state said. Rates of increase of national economy remained. Past year GDP growth made up 5, 9 %, including in the industry - 3, 3 %, trade - 15, 1 %, transport-communication sector - 4, 7 %. In the country about 12 thousand new workplaces were created. In the building sector more than 38 billion US dollars were invested. 45 large industrial and social projects with a total cost of 8 billion US dollars were put into operation. More than 2 million square metres of housing, including for needy families which could improve their conditions of life were commissioned into operation. In 2020 in the country higher educational institutions, the centres of public health services, culture and sports opened. Work on transformation of economy and its transition to action of market mechanisms proceeds. We have risen again in 2021 salary, pensions and scholarships, Berdimuhamedov noted. According to the president, for the further successful development of the country «new projects, new ideas and management methods» are necessary. It means that authorities should put forward initiatives, and they should be as many as possible, Berdimuhamedov marked. It is necessary to increase manufacture of import replacing production, effectively mastering boundless natural resources of the country, to concentrate possibilities to improvement of quality of life of population, growth of incomes, creation of new workplaces and attraction of investments, the president said. - Despite the difficulties which emerged in the world and the negative phenomena, we could preserve peace, security, achieve social and economic growth, increase of standard of living of people, - summed up Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov.
