On July 18, a working meeting with representatives of the International Trade Center (ITC) was held at the Permanent Mission of Turkmenistan to the UN in Geneva. The talks focused on two key areas of strategic importance for Turkmenistan’s economic development: the country’s accession to the World Trade Organization (WTO) and preparations for the upcoming Third UN Conference on Landlocked Developing Countries (LLDC3).

The International Trade Center, a joint agency of the WTO and the UN, plays a key role in supporting developing countries in integrating into the global trading system. Its expert assistance is invaluable for Turkmenistan, which has been actively moving towards WTO accession in recent years. Cooperation with the ITC helps the country adapt national legislation, develop trade potential and more effectively take advantage of the global market. At the meeting, the parties discussed current progress and next steps in this strategically important process.

During the dialogue, special attention was paid to the upcoming Third UN Conference on Landlocked Developing Countries (LLDC3). This large-scale international event will be held in Turkmenistan, in the Avaza National Tourist Zone from August 5 to 8, 2025.

As the parties emphasized, LLDC3 will become a key platform for a comprehensive discussion of the challenges facing countries that do not have direct access to the sea, as well as for developing effective strategies for their sustainable development. For Turkmenistan, holding such a significant conference is a confirmation of its active role in the international agenda and its desire to contribute to solving global problems.
