The Year of the White Metal Bull begins in China

Lunar New Year, which will be hosted by the White Metal Ox, was celebrated by an estimated 1.5 billion Chinese people across the world on the night of Friday, February 12.
In China, due to the coronavirus pandemic, there were no traditional nationwide celebration events and public festivities; people celebrated the Chūnjié holiday (Spring Festival), as the Chinese themselves call it, at home.
One of the main entertainments was the New Year’s gala concert, which was broadcast on central television. The presenters were counting down until midnight, when the silence on the outskirts of Beijing was broken by volleys of fireworks. Firework in the city has been banned since 2017.
Though festive celebrations of the Chinese New Year are discouraged in much of the world right now as Covid-19 casts a shadow over Lunar New Year for the second year in a row, people of the PRC can still mark the occasion and believe that the Ox Year will bring a hope and favor this year. In Chinese culture, this animal is a symbol of the balance between the practical and the divine principle; it is often depicted in Chinese painting.
According to horoscopes, the Year of the White Metal Ox is expected to bring change with it. In particular, people born in the Year of the Goat of the Chinese zodiac calendar will be facing a massive change ahead of them. And in general, the Year of the Ox will be calmer and easier than the outgoing year.
