Italian weightlifter Milena Gianelli (69 kg), Bronze winner of the Weightlifting contest of the XVIII Mediterranean Games, is preparing to take part in the 2018 World Weightlifting Championship, which will be held this fall in Ashgabat. Despite the young age, the pupil of the Olympic Athletes Training Center in Rome and the student of the University of Genoa achieved great success. In 2016, the weightlifter took the 1st place in Italy and the 3rd place in Europe among Teenage Girls (16-17) on CrossFit (competitive sport, which includes elements of weightlifting, powerlifting, gymnastics); although a year earlier in the same rating, she was only on the 8th position. Now, Milena prepares for 2018 European Athletics U23 Championships that to be held in Poland. Maria Teresa Nasi, a weightlifting coach, is pleased with accomplishments of Milena and is convinced that her performance will only grow in the future. At 20, Milena’s main dream is to get to the Olympic Games and to be the prizewinner. The dream can come true if she will show good results at the 2018 World Weightlifting Championship in Ashgabat. “Every athlete has a dream about the Olympics. After all, every tournament is the next step to this great goal,” Milena says.
