Photo contest "Amu Darya: a view through the lens" launched
A unique photo contest titled "Amu Darya: A View Through the Lens" has commenced in Turkmenistan, coinciding with the upcoming Amu Darya River Day. This initiative is spearheaded by a regional GIZ project focused on water resource management in Central Asia.
The contest aims to draw attention to the ecological significance and natural splendor of the Amu Darya River, and to foster a mindful approach to the river through the art of photography.
All residents of Turkmenistan aged 18 and over are invited to participate. There are three categories: landscapes, flora and fauna, as well as human interaction with the river.
Each photographer may submit up to four works (JPEG, from 300 dpi) by sending them to amudaryariver2025@gmail.com. Please ensure the email subject line reads: "Photo Contest – [Your Last Name, First Name]". Each image file must be named according to the following format: Lastname_Firstname_WorkTitle.jpg (e.g., Amanova_Chemen_Fauna.jpg).
The submission deadline is August 20, 2025.
Winners will receive prizes and certificates, and their best works will be featured in an exhibition and utilized in the project's informational campaigns.
This contest forms part of a comprehensive program of events dedicated to Amu Darya Day, which also includes master classes and children's creative competitions.
