Turkmenistan has Proposed Establishing Diplomatic Relations with Nigeria
On the sidelines of the 17th Summit of the Economic Cooperation Organization, which was held in Khankendi, Azerbaijan, a meeting between Minister of Foreign Affairs of Turkmenistan Rashid Meredov and Minister of Budget and Economic Planning of the Federal Republic of Nigeria Abubakar Atiku Bagudu was held.
During the talks, the parties discussed a wide range of issues related to the development of cooperation between Turkmenistan and Nigeria, the Foreign Ministry reports.
In this context, in an effort to intensify bilateral relations, the head of the Foreign Ministry of Turkmenistan handed over to the Nigerian side a diplomatic note with a proposal to establish diplomatic relations between Turkmenistan and the Federal Republic of Nigeria. A draft of the relevant bilateral document was also handed over.
This step underlines Turkmenistan's desire to expand the geography of its cooperation and establish ties with new partners.
