On June 30, President Serdar Berdimuhamedov received credentials from newly appointed Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Islamic Republic of Pakistan to Turkmenistan, Ms. Faryal Leghari.

Ambassador Leghari conveyed warm greetings from the leadership of Pakistan, emphasizing the high assessment of Turkmenistan's peace-loving policy. In response, President Berdimuhamedov noted that the countries and peoples are connected not only by friendship, but also by a deep community of spiritual, cultural and historical values. At the meeting, it was especially emphasized that Pakistan is one of Turkmenistan's most important partners in the South Asian region. Cooperation between the two countries is successfully developing in various spheres: from political and diplomatic to trade and economic, energy, transport, as well as educational and cultural and humanitarian.

A special place in the bilateral agenda is occupied by large regional energy and communication projects. Among them is the construction of the transnational gas pipeline Turkmenistan-Afghanistan-Pakistan-India (TAPI), as well as the fiber-optic communication line and power transmission line along the Turkmenistan-Afghanistan-Pakistan (TAP) route.

President Serdar Berdimuhamedov emphasized that these initiatives will contribute to the socio-economic development of the entire region in the long term. He expressed confidence that the new ambassador will make a significant contribution to coordinating efforts to implement them.

At the end of the meeting, the parties confirmed the special importance of strengthening cultural and humanitarian ties, including cooperation in the fields of education, science and healthcare, which is a solid foundation for the further development of partnership both bilaterally and at international venues such as the UN, ECO and OIC.
