Texas is preparing for the launch of Hypergrid, poised to become the world's largest integrated energy production and digital data processing center. This expansive complex, spanning nearly 6,000 acres, will have the capacity to power over 8 million homes, with its entire output dedicated to servicing servers for artificial intelligence systems. Construction is scheduled to commence on July 4th.

1

The project is being developed by Fermi America, a company founded by former Texas Governor and ex-Secretary of Energy Rick Perry, in collaboration with Texas Tech University.

To sustain such a substantial load—servicing AI servers across an estimated 1.7 million square meters of facility space—diverse energy sources will be utilized. These include solar panels, wind turbines, gas turbine generators, and nuclear technologies. The complex's total energy potential is projected to reach 11 GW, sufficient to supply a major region.

2

Hypergrid is envisioned as a unique, integrated hub, consolidating all necessary infrastructure: next-generation nuclear reactors, the nation's largest natural gas-fired power plant, photovoltaic systems, energy storage units, and direct connectivity to the main power grid.

The first gigawatt of capacity is slated for commissioning by the end of 2026. Despite potential high costs and ongoing discussions regarding the rapid liberalization of nuclear energy, proponents of the project deem it critically important for strengthening national energy security and maintaining U.S. technological leadership.
