Saparguly Makhtumov, Turkmenistan's Ambassador for the international Technovation Girls program, has been awarded the Global Ambassador Leadership Award (GALA) 2025. He is the first male ambassador to receive this prestigious honor.

The GALA 2025 awards ceremony was held online, bringing together program ambassadors from 117 countries worldwide. This award is presented annually to only four ambassadors who demonstrate outstanding leadership, actively participate in community building, and effectively promote the program. This season, in addition to Saparguly Makhtumov, recipients included representatives from Spain, Nigeria, and Kyrgyzstan.

Megan Black, Program Coordinator from Technovation headquarters in California, specifically highlighted Saparguly Makhtumov's contributions. According to her, he "actively worked with an excellent team of Ambassadors across Turkmenistan and the Central Asian region." Beyond his duties as a Club Ambassador in Ashgabat, Saparguly provided technical support to teams nationwide and coordinated the activities of Club Ambassadors throughout Turkmenistan.

The international Technovation Girls program has been successfully implemented in Turkmenistan for four years. This global initiative aims to foster social entrepreneurship and empower young girls in STEM fields (Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics).

As part of the largest technology competition for girls, participants form teams (up to 5 people) and develop mobile applications designed to solve relevant social problems at both local and international levels.

At the end of each season, finalist teams have the opportunity to present their prototypes at the Technovation World Summit in California to leaders from leading global technology companies such as Google, Meta, and Amazon.
