On June 16, a business meeting organized by the Italian Institute of Asia (ISIA) took place in Rome, at the headquarters of the Italian shipping confederation Confitarma, located in the historic Palazzo Colonna, with the participation of representatives of Italy and Turkmenistan. The meeting became an important platform for developing a dialogue between the two countries aimed at expanding economic, investment and cultural cooperation.

The ISIA initiative brought together diplomats, institutional representatives and entrepreneurs interested in working in the Turkmen market. The event was opened by the President of the Institute Mario Morgoni, who emphasized the importance of partnership not only in the economic sphere, but also in the humanitarian sphere. The meeting was moderated by Secretary General of ISIA Domenico Palmieri.

The meeting was attended by Ambassador of Turkmenistan to Italy Toyly Komekov and Ambassador of Italy to Turkmenistan Luigi Ferrari, who connected via video link. The host was represented by Confitarma Director Luca Sisto.

Particular attention at the meeting was paid to cooperation opportunities in such sectors as energy, infrastructure, logistics, mechanical engineering, capital goods, digitalization and tourism. It was noted Italy's interest in strengthening the presence of Italian business in the country, rich in gas resources.

Ambassador Toyly Komekov emphasized that Turkmenistan offers favorable conditions for foreign investment, including benefits and special regimes, and guarantees political stability.

Large Italian businesses are already represented in Turkmenistan, including in the oil and gas sector, as well as service companies involved in various infrastructure projects, supplies of equipment for the textile industry and industrial sectors. In recent years, several factories using Italian technology have been launched in the country.

The diplomat expressed the interest of Turkmen businesses in creating joint production facilities with Italian partners in the textile, agro-industrial and chemical sectors.

The Ambassador noted the country's openness at the highest level to Italian business and expressed confidence that this meeting could give impetus to further bilateral work to expand partnership across a wide range of areas, including alternative energy sources, transport, digital technologies, fashion and cultural exchange.

It was also announced that a Turkmen-Italian business forum would be held in Rome this fall, which would be timed to the planned visit of the President of Turkmenistan.
