Scientists at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology's (MIT) Lincoln Laboratory have developed a low-temperature 3D printing technology for glass objects.

The key innovation lies in a specialized composite filament. This filament allows for the use of conventional print heads, eliminating the need to work with molten glass and making the process more accessible.

Models printed with this filament do not require annealing. To cure and clean them, it's sufficient to place the objects in oil heated to 250 °C. The filament itself is composed of an "inorganic composite glass" based on silicates with nanoparticles.

The primary goal of this development is to print industrial products, such as high-temperature electronic components and microfluidic systems. However, the technology may also appeal to 3D printing enthusiasts.
