On June 16, in Ashgabat, a meeting was held between Minister of Foreign Affairs of Turkmenistan Rashid Meredov and State Secretary of the Ministry of Foreign and European Affairs of the Republic of Slovenia Marko Stucin.

The talks were an important step in developing the dialogue between the two countries. Both bilateral and multilateral formats of cooperation were discussed, including interaction on international platforms, primarily within the UN.

The meeting continued with political consultations between the diplomatic missions of Turkmenistan and Slovenia. The Turkmen side was headed by Deputy Foreign Minister Myahri Byashimova, and the Slovenian side was headed by State Secretary Marko Stucin.

The focus was on deepening Turkmen-Slovenian cooperation, current issues on the regional agenda and expanding the legal framework for partnership. The participants confirmed their mutual interest in enhancing interstate relations.

The parties paid special attention to the trade and economic segment. It was noted that in such areas as telecommunications, transport, pharmaceuticals, innovative technologies and trade, there are real opportunities for practical cooperation. In this regard, the role of the Intergovernmental Commission on Trade and Economic Cooperation was emphasized.

Plans for developing humanitarian ties, including culture and education, were also discussed, which are designed to strengthen mutual understanding and bring the peoples of the two countries closer together.
