A technical delegation from Da Afghanistan Breshna Sherkat visited Turkmenistan to discuss a number of energy projects, Kabul Times reported citing a statement from the company on Monday.

According to the statement, the technical teams from the two countries are discussing the progress of infrastructure projects, including the Turkmenistan-Dasht-e Alwan 500 kV transmission line and substation and the Arghandi substation.

This technical visit is considered a significant step towards the completion and successful operation of vital power transmission projects and will play an important role in improving Afghanistan's energy infrastructure, the statement said.

The 500-kilovolt power transmission line connecting Turkmenistan to Afghanistan, in particular the section from Sheberghan to Dasht-e Alwan and further to the Arghandi district of Kabul, is crucial for importing up to 1,000 megawatts of electricity from Turkmenistan, which will reduce the power deficit in Kabul and 13 neighboring provinces, Kabul Times reports.

Earlier, Breshna’s press service reported on a video meeting between the company’s CEO Abdul Bari Omar and officials of Turkmenenergo, at which the Turkmen side invited their Afghan counterparts to pay an official visit to Turkmenistan.
