Minister of Planning and Development of Pakistan Ahsan Iqbal has called for expediting the early completion of the Pakistan-Turkmenistan Transit Trade Agreement to promote greater regional connectivity and economic integration.

He spoke to Pakistan's Ambassador-designate to Turkmenistan Dr. Faryal Leghari, who visited the minister on Saturday, May 31, in Islamabad, Radio Pakistan reported.

The minister stressed the need to maximize trade potential between Pakistan and Turkmenistan and reduce the import-export gap by addressing logistical challenges.

The meeting discussed organizing a joint business exhibition to facilitate direct interactions between businesses and investors from the two countries.

The meeting also discussed initiating a student exchange program between universities in the two countries. Ahsan Iqbal mentioned Pakistani marble, fruits, vegetables and rice as major export opportunities for Turkmenistan and stressed the importance of establishing direct air connectivity for timely delivery of cargo.

Highlighting that Pakistan is the fourth largest country in the world in terms of freelancers, Ahsan Iqbal expressed readiness to export Pakistani IT services and digital skills to Turkmenistan.

The Ambassador-designate to Turkmenistan expressed her strong confidence in the possibility of developing partnerships in the field of science and information technology during her stay in Turkmenistan.
