In recent years, relations between Turkmenistan and the People's Republic of China have reached the level of a comprehensive strategic partnership. The interaction between the two countries encompasses a rather broad spectrum of areas – from energy and infrastructure to digital technologies and humanitarian exchanges. This dynamic, according to experts, is based on a solid political dialogue, mutual respect, and a commitment to sustainable development.

Mr. Li Yue, the Commercial and Economic Counselor at the PRC Embassy in Turkmenistan, believes that the key factors ensuring the sustainable growth of cooperation are: the strategic guidance of the leaders of the two countries, effective institutional mechanisms, and business activity.

Thus, in 2024, the trade turnover between China and Turkmenistan amounted to US$10.6 billion, an increase of 11% compared to the previous year.

Despite the turbulence observed in the global economy, China continues to be Turkmenistan's largest business partner, and the structure of trade demonstrates a mutually beneficial complementarity for both countries. For example, Turkmenistan exports natural gas, cotton yarn, and agricultural products to China, while China supplies equipment, vehicles, and consumer goods. In the interview, Mr. Li Yue elaborates on the fundamental aspects of bilateral cooperation, including the "high-level openness" strategy, which aims to deepen China's integration into the world economy and harmonize rules with international standards.

A specific place in the interview is given to the role of Chinese companies, such as Huawei, CRRC Ziyang, and Yutong, in the modernization of Turkmenistan's telecommunications and transport infrastructure.

Detailed information is provided on the opportunities for Turkmen enterprises at Chinese international exhibitions, such as the China International Import Expo (CIIE) and the Canton Fair, which serve as platforms for product presentation, establishing business contacts, and expanding export opportunities.

The diplomat pays particular attention to non-energy areas of cooperation, such as digitalization, "green" technologies, and innovation, emphasizing that mutually beneficial cooperation with China opens up prospects for long-term success and sustainable development for both countries.

We invite you to watch the video interview with Mr. Li Yue, the Commercial and Economic Counselor at the PRC Embassy in Turkmenistan, to gain a deeper understanding of the current state and prospects of Turkmen-Chinese relations.
