Foreign Minister of Turkmenistan and UN Under-Secretary-General synchronize watches ahead of LLDC 3
Foreign Minister of Turkmenistan Rashid Meredov and UN Under-Secretary-General and High Representative for the Least Developed, Landlocked Developing Countries and Small Island States Rabab Fatima held a video conference on Wednesday, 28 May, to discuss preparations for the Third UN Conference on Landlocked Developing Countries (LLDC 3).
During the meeting, the parties reviewed a wide range of organizational and protocol issues, as well as the substantive part of the upcoming conference.
The Third UN Conference on Landlocked Developing Countries is intended to become a platform for developing solutions and building partnerships aimed at addressing the problems and unlocking the potential of these countries for a more equitable and prosperous future.
According to information published on the UN News website, the conference program includes: Pre-conference day on August 4: Civil Society Forum, Youth and Parliamentary Forums, meeting of the UN Secretary-General with heads of UN agencies.
August 5: Opening ceremony of LLDC 3, plenary session and general debate, press conference, high-level round tables, opening of the Private Sector Forum and Intergenerational Dialogue, Ministerial meeting on South-South Cooperation, women leaders meeting and other events.
August 8: Closing session, adoption of the new Programme of Action and Political Declaration.
