The 42nd Plenary Week of the Eurasian Group on Combating Money Laundering and Terrorist Financing (EAG) is taking place in Moscow from May 26 to 30. The group includes Belarus, India, Kazakhstan, China, Kyrgyzstan, Russia, Tajikistan, Turkmenistan and Uzbekistan, while 17 more states and 24 international and regional organizations have observer status.

The event is dedicated to the issues of preparing countries for a new round of mutual evaluations and implementing updated FATF requirements in the fight against money laundering and terrorist financing. In particular, legislative measures to combat money laundering and the use of individual elements of asset recovery as tools to suppress organized crime and terrorist financing will be considered. This was reported in the information from the organization for media representatives.

The plenary session will bring together over 200 delegates from more than 15 countries of the Eurasian region, the Middle East, Africa, Southeast Asia, as well as over 20 international organizations. The events will be attended by representatives of financial intelligence services, relevant ministries and departments, the private sector, expert and scientific circles. During the week, significant events will take place: the IV Forum of Parliamentarians of the EAG Member States, the Joint Forum of Supervisory Authorities and the Private Sector under the auspices of the EAG and MENAFATF "Risk Management in the Era of New Technologies", the 22nd meeting of the Council of the International Network Institute in the field of AML/CFT, the EAG "Green" initiative and other events. The key event will be the EAG Plenary Session, which will consider the main risks and threats to financial security in the Eurasian region, significant projects implemented by countries in the field of financial security. Delegates will consider a wide range of issues related to the development of anti-money laundering systems of the EAG countries, measures to minimize regional risks, and improving multilateral cooperation. There will also be meetings of working groups on technical assistance, mutual assessments and legal issues, typologies and combating the financing of terrorism and crime.

The main goal of the EAG is to improve the conditions for protecting the financial systems and economies of member states from the threats of money laundering, terrorist financing and the financing of weapons of mass destruction in accordance with international standards.
