FIAT Professional has unveiled the TRIS, its inaugural three-wheeled electric vehicle engineered to address the requirements of micro-transport. The model will be available in three configurations: a chassis cab, a cargo platform, and a pickup. Its primary objective is to offer small businesses and residents of developing regions an accessible and environmentally conscious transportation solution.

The TRIS combines modularity, ease of operation, and a range of up to 90 km. Its 6.9 kWh battery can be recharged from a standard electrical outlet in 4 hours and 40 minutes. An electric motor with a power output of 9 kW propels the vehicle to a maximum speed of 45 km/h. Due to its compact dimensions (3.17 m in length) and tight turning radius (3.05 m), the TRIS is ideally suited for narrow urban streets. Furthermore, it is capable of transporting up to 540 kg of cargo on a platform with an area of 2.25 m².

"The TRIS is more than just transportation; it represents a step towards economic independence and social integration," stated Olivier François, CEO of FIAT. Production of the TRIS has been established in Morocco, and to enhance affordability, FIAT is offering leasing and installment purchase options. The model features ease of maintenance, with a galvanized frame providing corrosion protection, and the absence of a clutch and gearbox reduces operational costs. Future enhancements for the TRIS include a fleet management system and GPS trackers. Analysts anticipate that the TRIS has the potential to become a benchmark in the commercial electric vehicle market due to its combination of ergonomic design, adaptability, and affordability.
