TeamGroup announces 64 TB SSD for AI and Cloud Databases
TeamGroup has announced the 64 TB T-Create Master Ai I5U U.2 PCIe 5.0 SSD for the enterprise segment, targeting cloud services and AI tasks. This marks the company's initial entry into the ultra-high capacity sector, where Western Digital and Nimbus Data are already present.
The drive utilizes the U.2 PCIe 5.0 interface for high bandwidth, but its actual performance under load, heat dissipation, and stability have not yet been confirmed by independent testing. Solidigm and Micron also have high-capacity SSDs available in the market, but 64 terabyte models remain niche due to the complexity and cost of production.
The price of the T-Create Master Ai I5U has not yet been disclosed. It is anticipated that TeamGroup will offer a more affordable solution, although it is unlikely to match the cost per gigabyte of traditional HDDs. The further adoption of such SSDs will depend on the results of tests and the advancement of mass production technologies.
