June promises a rich program of cultural events and festivals in Turkmenistan
A series of diverse cultural and sports events dedicated to several international dates and local traditions is planned for June. This was reported at a government meeting.
At the beginning of the month, celebrations will be held to mark International Children's Day, World Bicycle Day (a mass bike ride is planned in the capital on June 3) and World Environment Day, which will be marked by sports competitions and other festive events. The winners of previously held creative competitions will also be announced.
The regional stages of the dutar musicians' competition "Çalsana, bagşy!" ("Play, bagshi!") will continue, with the final rounds in Dashoguz, Lebap and Mary regions. One of the key events will be the international dance and folklore festival "Avaza - the Land of Friendship", which will be held from June 2 to 7 on the Caspian coast. Participation of groups from different countries is expected, which will make the festival a platform for cultural exchange.
Also planned are events dedicated to the closing of the Year of Culture of Turkmenistan in China on June 6. From June 22 to 27, the Week of Culture will be held in the Ahal velayat.
On June 27, there will be a celebration of the poetry of Magtymguly Fragi, including a ceremony of laying flowers at his monument in the cultural and park complex named after the poet.
The month will end with song and music celebrations on June 29, dedicated to the second anniversary of the opening of the city of Arkadag.
