A branch of the Executive Committee of the Regional Commonwealth in the Field of Communications (RCC) for Central Asian countries was opened in Tashkent. The new structure will become a coordination center for the implementation of joint projects in the field of telecommunications and digital technologies. Initiatives aimed at developing digital infrastructure, introducing innovative solutions and exchanging experience between the countries of the region will be discussed and developed here. This was reported by the press service of Uzbektelecom JSC, in the building of which the work of the branch will be organized.

The opening ceremony was attended by RCC Director General Alexey Borodin, Minister of Digital Technologies of the Republic of Uzbekistan Sherzod Shermatov, Chairman of the Board of Uzbektelecom JSC Nazirjon Khasanov, as well as representatives of the RCC Council and the Coordination Council. The participants of the event noted that the opening of the branch in Tashkent strengthens the position of Uzbekistan as an active participant in digital processes in the region and creates additional opportunities for practical cooperation in the field of communications and information and communication technologies between the countries of Central Asia.

The Regional Commonwealth in the Field of Communications was created by the communications administrations of the states in accordance with the "Agreement on the Establishment of the Regional Commonwealth in the Field of Communications" of December 17, 1991, with the aim of broad cooperation and concerted action by these states in the field of electric and postal communications. The RCC participants on a voluntary basis are the communications administrations of Azerbaijan, Armenia, Belarus, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Moldova, Russia, Tajikistan, Turkmenistan, Uzbekistan and Ukraine.
