Goods from Central Asian countries will be granted broad access to the Xinjiang market
Cooperation between the Central Asian countries and the Xinjiang Uygur Autonomous Region (XUAR) of China is strengthening year by year in various fields, including trade and economy, science and education, culture, and others. Xinjiang plans to further expand access to its market for high-quality products from Central Asian countries. The willingness to promote Central Asian goods on the market was documented in 18 measures recently announced by Urumqi Customs to support the construction of the China (Xinjiang) Pilot Free Trade Zone (FTZ), according to a report by the Chinese news agency Xinhua.
According to the report, to implement the new measures, local customs authorities will undertake work in areas such as risk analysis, protocol formulation, and policy clarification regarding agricultural products that Central Asian countries intend to supply to China. Customs authorities will accelerate the inclusion of a greater number of high-quality agricultural products from Central Asian countries in the list of agricultural products whose import is permitted by the General Administration of Customs of the PRC.
Efforts are also planned to facilitate both the diversification of import sources of high-quality food products from Central Asian and neighboring countries and the expansion of their assortment. Furthermore, Urumqi Customs will strengthen technical cooperation and exchanges in the field of inspection and quarantine security with Central Asian countries, thereby ensuring effective support for the promotion of high-quality development and high-level openness.
