The gas and chemical complex for the production of polyethylene and polypropylene, which is to produce 81,000 tons of polypropylene per year, will start operating this year in the village of Kyianli. Orient decided to find out how this polymer manifested itself in the domestic and foreign markets in 2017, and what prospects open before the new production in 2018. According to the State Statistics Committee of Turkmenistan, the level of use of production facilities for the production of polypropylene in the Turkmenbashi complex of oil refineries (TKNPZ) reached 93.5%. This demonstrates the excellent technical condition of the plant and the availability of high quality raw materials. In 2017, TKNPZ produced 84.1 thousand tons of polypropylene, while the task was to produce 82.5 thousand tons. Export of polymer in 2017 amounted to 62.3 thousand tons, and its unrealized balances in the market decreased by 31%, amounting to 2.9 thousand tons. The latter indicates a competent production plan that takes into account real demand and supply. The domestic market sold 18.9 thousand tons of polypropylene, most of which was purchased by private enterprises for the manufacture of polymer products (plastic pipes, dishes, building materials, etc.). Representatives of the TKNPZ also pointed out the impact of a successful import substitution policy in Turkmenistan, which increased the demand for polymers among manufacturers for the production of packaging products and labels. Earlier Orient wrote that the demand for polypropylene in the world is steadily growing. Statistics for 2017 indicate that the increase in production of this polymer meets the needs of not only the external market, but also domestic, which has growing needs for new production capacities. At the same time, the availability of raw materials for production of the planned quantity of polymers in Turkmenistan does not cause any doubts.Eziz OVEZOV
