New demographic situation in Central Asia


There is a new demographic situation in the Central Asian region. Analytical structures in the first days of the new year comment on the data of this sphere. So, in 2017 the population of the Central Asian states exceeded 70 million people. At the same time, the proportion of elderly people increased to 4.9 percent. Experts explain this to an increase in the average life in Central Asia. This indicator in all countries of the region has exceeded 70 years old. Along with the increase in the proportion of elderly people, the share of the children's population in the countries of the region also increases, which by the end of the last year reached 29 percent. This indicator shows that in Central Asia more than 20.5 million children under 14 age. Demographers forecast a stable trend here and believe that by the end of 2018 the share of children in the population of Central Asia will be 30 percent. Experts assume that the growth of the population of the Central Asian countries, coupled with significant economic potential, allows the region to look to the future with optimism.
