In order to simplify visa procedures, electronic visas are being introduced in Turkmenistan for foreign citizens.

This measure is stipulated by the Decree on Amendments and Additions to the Law "On Migration" which was signed by President Serdar Berdimuhamedov and came into force on April 18, 2025.

The electronic visa (e-Visa) will be processed electronically within the information system of the State Migration Service of Turkmenistan and will grant foreign citizens permission for entry into the country, stay within its territory, departure, as well as transit through Turkmenistan.

Furthermore, this innovation eliminates the requirement for processing and issuance of invitations for arrival in the country when obtaining an electronic visa. Diplomatic missions, consular institutions, and migration authorities of Turkmenistan will receive automatic notifications from the system.

The categories and types of electronic visas, the procedures for their processing, issuance, and extension of their validity period will be established directly by the President of Turkmenistan.

The forms for electronic applications, the list of necessary documents, and samples of electronic visas will be approved by the State Migration Service of Turkmenistan.
