Delegation of Turkmenistan took part in the ministerial meeting of the Central Asia-GCC dialogue
The delegation of Turkmenistan, headed by Deputy Foreign Minister Akhmet Gurbanov, made a working visit to Kuwait on April 15-16 to participate in the third ministerial meeting of the Central Asia-GCC Strategic Dialogue (CA-GCC), which was held in Kuwait City.
The forum was attended by the heads of the foreign ministries of the Central Asian countries and six countries that are members of the Gulf Cooperation Council - the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, the United Arab Emirates, the State of Qatar, the State of Kuwait, the Sultanate of Oman and the Kingdom of Bahrain.
The meeting discussed issues of deepening partnership in various fields and the need to further expand mutually beneficial ties. Particular emphasis was placed on the importance of developing specific recommendations and proposals aimed at expanding cooperation in the trade, economic, investment, transport and communications, cultural and humanitarian, environmental and tourism spheres.
The determination to actively develop multilateral mechanisms of interaction and strengthen ties between Central Asia and the Gulf States was confirmed.
The Turkmen side voiced current issues and initiatives to strengthen cooperation between the countries participating in the strategic dialogue in the transport and logistics, energy, economic and humanitarian spheres.
On the same day, a meeting of the Turkmen delegation with the Crown Prince of the State of Kuwait, Sheikh Sabah Al-Khalid Al-Hamad Al-Mubarak Al-Sabah took place.
Akhmet Gurbanov also met with the heads of the delegations of the Kingdom of Bahrain and the Sultanate of Oman.
In particular, issues of implementing the Agreement between the Governments of Iran, Oman, Qatar, Turkmenistan and Uzbekistan on the establishment of an international transport and transit corridor (Ashgabat Agreement) were discussed, according to a press release from the Turkmen Foreign Ministry.
