Journalists from Turkmenistan are invited to the competition

The European Union-funded project, "Sustainable Energy Connections in Central Asia (SECCA)", hereby announces a competition for journalists from Central Asia.
This competition aims to enhance public awareness regarding the transition to clean energy for the benefit of people and the planet, and to draw attention to the increased utilization of renewable energy sources and the shift towards more sustainable energy systems.
Within the framework of this competition, journalists representing regional and local print and electronic media outlets, as well as television and radio stations, are invited to submit their work on the following themes: sustainable energy, renewable energy sources, energy efficiency, gender equality in the energy sector, education for girls in STEM fields (Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics), green/sustainable building practices, EU-Central Asia cooperation in the field of sustainable energy, and EU-Central Asia research cooperation within the EU's "Horizon Europe" program under Cluster 5, "Climate, Energy and Mobility".
Submitted works must have been published in print or electronic media or broadcast on television or radio between April 15, 2024, and May 14, 2025.
Each applicant may submit a maximum of three entries. Participants must be individuals aged 18 years or older and citizens of one of the five Central Asian countries (Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Tajikistan, Turkmenistan, or Uzbekistan). To participate in the competition, applicants are required to complete the application form (available in Russian and English) and attach their competition materials (article, essay, interview, television/radio report/program), including hyperlinks to the materials. In the case of print publications, a scanned copy in PDF format, indicating the media outlet's name, date, and issue number, must be attached. The application and all accompanying materials must be sent via email to: media@secca.eu.
The deadline for submitting applications is May 14, 2025. Following the evaluation process, three winners will be selected and awarded monetary prizes.
The results of the competition will be announced in late May – early June 2025 on the SECCA project website and its social media platforms, as well as during a special session co-organized by the SECCA project at the "Astana International Forum".
