As part of the conference “Quality Assurance in Compliance with International Standards in Turkmenistan” (QACIS 2025), one of the central sessions will be a panel discussion on the topic: “The role of international standards in promoting trade and attracting investments.” This event will bring together leading international and national experts to discuss the strategic importance of standards in economic development.

Today, international standards are more than just technical regulations. They are a universal language of trust, facilitating access to foreign markets, reducing trade barriers, and enhancing the transparency of business processes. Their implementation not only improves the quality of products and services but also contributes to the creation of a sustainable business environment that is attractive to foreign investors.

The discussion will feature representatives from the Ministry of Finance and Economy of Turkmenistan, the World Free Zones Organization, the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development (EBRD), as well as experts in e-commerce, digital trade, and artificial intelligence (AI). Leading national exporters will also participate, showcasing successful cases of entering international markets through the application of international standards and internationally recognized certifications.

The session will be moderated by Eric Livny, an international economist and Head of the EBRD Resident Office in Turkmenistan. His expertise will provide strategic depth to the discussion and help bridge global and local perspectives.

Participants will explore real-life case studies, effective mechanisms for standard implementation, and the role of international standards in export growth, digital transformation of the economy, and attracting foreign direct investment in Turkmenistan.
