Mountaineers raised the Turkmen flag to the top of the Greater Chimgan

Turkmen mountaineers raised the flag of the country to the top of the Greater Chimgan in Uzbekistan. Rising high at the altitude of 3,309 metres above the sea level, it is a part of the Western Tian-Shan. According to “Alpagama.org” website, which focuses on mountains and mountainous extreme, the climb took place in the framework of the annual alpiniad, organized by the Mountaineering Federation of the Republic of Uzbekistan. The Turkmen team consisted of three experienced mountaineers from Ashgabat and Balkanabat. Ashgabat residents from “Agama” alpine club – Dmitriy Serebryakov and Berdy Charyev already had a successful climb to the Iceland peak (6,189 m) of the Himalayas, and Dmitriy – also climbs to other peaks of the Tien Shan and Pamirs with highest point more than seven thousand. The way to the top of the Greater Chimgan lay down from the base camp in the Aksai gorge at the altitude of 1860 meters above the sea level. The climb started at 8 o’clock in the morning. The Turkmen team crossed rocky areas and dense firn of the Zhukov critical route. By three o'clock in the afternoon, our compatriots were at the highest point of the ridge.
The sunny weather favored the ascent, contributed to the fact that the descent was without incident. In the following days of alpiniad, Turkmen mountaineers jointly with Uzbek colleagues from the Ratsek club participated in snow and climbing classes, gaining experience and new skills.
